James Fortuna

Fortuna

James A. Fortuna, 73, of Neshannock Township, passed away the evening of March 12, 2022, at UPMC Shadyside Hospital.

Born on April 28, 1948, in New Castle, he was the son of the late Albert and Betty J. DeGennaro Fortuna.

On Sept. 13, 1975, Jim married his beloved wife, the former Karen White. She survives at home.

In 1971, Jim graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy. He had worked as a pharmacist at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Butler for many years until he retired.

Jim was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Camillus Church.

He was an avid golfer and loved being out on the golf course. For many years, Jim played in the Larry George Golf League in Butler. He was also a member of Avalon Lakes Country Club. Jim enjoyed watching all types of sports on TV. He was a loving husband and father, and his greatest joy was the time he spent with his family.

In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his son, Andrew Fortuna, of New Castle.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his son, Dr. Allen (A.J.) Fortuna.

FORTUNA — Visitation for James A. Fortuna, who died Saturday, March 12, 2022, will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the ED & DON DECARBO FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 3000 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Friday for a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Camillus Church. Father Benjamin Barr will officiate.

Entombment will be in Castle View Memorial Gardens.
