Malcolm Barron
Malcolm “Mac” James Barron, 91, of Harrisville, passed away on March 3, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family and loved ones.
Mac was born Dec. 19, 1930, in Grove City, to Harry C. and Ellen G. “Nellie” Seneff Barron.
He graduated from Grove City High School in 1948.
Mac served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954, as a sergeant in the 47th Trans Army, where he did aircraft maintenance in the Korean War. He received the Good Conduct Medal, the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Star, the National Defense Service Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal.
Mac owned/operated Barron’s Garage in Harrisville, from 1961 until 2007, and worked the business with his son, Terry. Mac later retired at the age of 77.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Harrisville, where he served the church in various capacities. Formerly, Mac was a member of borough council in Harrisville, and served as former president.
His wife, the former Betty Jane Moon, whom he married on Jan. 25,1955, preceded Mac in death on Sept. 12, 1996.
Surviving are his three children, Terry (Beatrice) Barron, Connie (Art Vasbinder) Breese and Becky (Robert) Johnston; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Harry, John, Paul and an infant brother, Waldo; and two sisters, Margaret Louise Davis and an infant sister, Mary.
BARRON — A private service for Malcolm “Mac” James Barron, who died Thursday, March 3, 2022, will be held Monday at CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City, with the Rev. Willard Morse officiating.
Military honors will follow.
