James D. Hughes III, 79, of Forward Township, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022.

He was born in Callery, on May 13, 1942, and was the son of the late James and Elizabeth Hughes Jr.

James was employed through Local 66 as a heavy equipment operating engineer, and was a member for 50 years.

He enjoyed NASCAR; John Wayne movies; his dog, Josie; and loved anything John Deere.

James was the father of Patti (Don) Myers and Greg (Diane) Hughes; brother of Vivian Hughes; grandfather of Megan (Scott) Schuller, Bret Myers, Kelli (Matt) Hillwig, Logan Hughes and Brandon Lambert; and great-grandfather of Myleigh, Rowan, Joshua and Keegan.

He is also survived by his “forever daughter-in-law,” Laurie Lambert; and a large and loving family.

James was preceded in death by his wife, Alice “Joanne” Hughes, on Jan. 31, 2022; and his son, James “Rick” Hughes.

HUGHES — Family and friends of James D. Hughes III, who died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler.
