Baughman

Mary Jeanne Gates Baughman, 94, of Butler, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2022, at Concordia Lutheran Ministries.

She was born July 29, 1927, in Butler, and was the daughter of the late Clifford and Laura (Miller) Gates.

Mary was a military wife, making a home for her husband and sons wherever the U.S. Army or Air Force would send them. She volunteered for the Red Cross on the base, and mentored young military families.

She was a talented seamstress and loved to fashion clothes for her grandchildren and their dolls. She loved to shop, and took pride in decorating her home with the many items collected from living around the world.

Mary was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Butler. She sang in the church choir, taught Sunday school and served at the church council.

Surviving are three sons, Timothy Baughman and his wife, Donna, of Butler, Thomas Baughman and his wife, Sue, of Chicora and North Fort Myers, Fla., and Todd Baughman and his wife, Elizabeth, of Warner Robins, Ga.; nine grandchildren; 22 great- grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward W. Baughman, whom she married on Aug. 4, 1942, and who died Jan. 23, 2016; one sister, Dorothy Gates Brenner; and one brother, Clifford Gates.

BAUGHMAN — The family of Mary Jeanne Gates Baughman, who died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2022, will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, Butler.

A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Joel A. Benson officiating.

Burial will be in Butler County Memorial Park.

THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler, is assisting the family with their arrangements.
