Mickey Pappas Sr.

Mickey G. Pappas Sr., 88, of Mars, passed away on Friday morning, Feb. 11, 2022, in the comfort of his home with his family at his side.

Born in Butler on June 24, 1933, he was the son of the late Theodore and Ethel Pappas.

Mickey had been a painter at Pullman Standard in Butler, for 32 years. He later worked as a school bus driver for A.J. Myers and Sons for the Mars Area School District.

He had served in the U.S. Army during peacetime.

He had been an elder and member of Old Union Presbyterian Church, and was a former officer with the Mars Baseball Association.

He enjoyed bowling in local leagues, and hunting and fishing.

Above all else, Mickey was a devoted family man and loved his family dearly.

Surviving are his wife, Jean Davidson Pappas, whom he married on Feb. 24, 1956; three sons, Mickey Pappas Jr. (Sheila) of Mars, Brian Pappas (Nancy) of Evans City, and Ron Pappas (Kathi May) of Summerville, S.C.; his grandchildren, Jessica Semler (Mike), Vanessa Keil (Josh), Rebecca Muha (Michael), Sarah Weaver (Ron) and Laura Pappas; and his great-grandchildren, Penelope, Grayson, Payton, Riley and Elizabeth.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family and was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.

PAPPAS — A private family visitation and service will be held for Mickey G. Pappas Sr., who died Friday, Feb. 11, 2022.

Arrangements are under the direction of MCDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.

Memorial donations may be made to the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center at Passavant Hospital, 9100 Babcock Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15237.
