Beatrice Lammers
Beatrice “Bea” Irene Martsolf Lammers, 94, passed away early on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2022, at the Ferncliff Nursing Home in Rhinebeck, N.Y., close by her son, Timothy.
She was born Oct. 27, 1927, in Butler, and was the daughter of Dora Lauretta Racely and Clarence Melvin Martsolf.
She was the widow of the Rev. Donald H. Lammers (ordained at the Meridian Presbyterian Church) and formerly of the United Presbyterian Church of Cortland, N.Y.
She was the youngest girl of nine Martsolf children and raised on the family farm in Butler, where she attended the Buttercup School, a one-room schoolhouse in Connoquenessing, and also Butler High School. She also attended Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pa., where she met Don, her future husband of 56 years. They both enjoyed laughter and the occasional practical joke on one another and trick-or-treaters.
In addition to ably assisting her husband in his many positions within the Presbyterian Church, she worked for several years, including office manager and assistant to Theodore Fenstermacher, a noted Cortland, N.Y., attorney and civic leader.
She is survived by her son, Timothy, 66, and his husband, Christopher Wiss, both of Germantown, N.Y., and New York City; and her sister-in-law, Joan Martsolf, and her niece, Barbara Green Frederick, both of Butler.
LAMMERS — A memorial service for Beatrice “Bea” Irene Martsolf Lammers, who died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2022, will be held in Cortland, N.Y., during the summer with burial in Fredonia, N.Y.
