Wendell “Peepaw” Vernon Miller died at home in Houston, Texas, after a courageous COVID-free battle with cancer on Monday, Jan. 31, 2022, with his wife by his side. He was 82 years of age.

Born in Butler, Sept. 20, 1939, to Wendell and Mary Ann Miller, he was the youngest of three children.

Wendell met his wife Eunice, her senior year of high school. They were married in 1961, and had their only son, Brad in 1966.

Wendell worked for MCA Sign Company for 35 years, before retiring and finding his passion for woodworking. He loved to fish, hunt and watch his grandchildren at any event they were participating.

Peepaw was preceded in death by his parents, Wendell Holmes Oliver Miller and Mary Ann Riley Miller; his brother, Dewayne Miller; and sister-in-law, Cathy Callihan.

He is survived by his wife, Eunice; his son, Brad and his wife, Cristin, and their children, Cole, Carson and her fiancé, Luke Cone, and Camden; along with his brother-in-law, Hal Callihan and his niece, Tammy Lynd and nephew, Jeff.

Wendell is also survived by his sister, Mary Lee Kelly nieces Lee and Debbie and nephew Jim.

Peepaw loved spending time with his grandchildren, and would do anything for anyone.

The family would like to thank his doctors, Accent Care Hospice, caregivers and neighborhood friends.

MILLER — The family is having a private Mass for Wendell “Peepaw” Vernon Miller, who died Monday, Jan. 31, 2022.

He donated his body to UT Health and Science in hope that he could help someone learn.
