Velma Montag
Velma J. Smith Montag, 91, of Floral City, Fla., formerly of Butler, passed away Monday, Dec. 27, 2021, at Ocala Regional Hospital in Ocala, Fla.
Born Nov. 13, 1930, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Albert G. and Helen (Lowry) Protzman.
Velma retired from the former Servicestar in East Butler in 1992, having worked in the cafeteria department.
She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Lecanto, Fla. Velma was a former member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Butler.
Surviving are her husband, Allen D. Montag, whom she married July 21, 2004; her son, Terry R. (Cindy) Smith of West Sunbury; three daughters, Marilyn Smith of Wexford, Dr. Janet (Robert) Skees of Pittsburgh, and Wendy (Kerry) Leslie of Butler; four grandchildren, Nicholas Smith, Nash (Ashley) Leslie, Dylan (Chelsea) Leslie and Hannah Skees; two great-grandchildren; two stepchildren, Diane Montag Rigos and Rodney Montag; three stepgrandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren; one sister, Mildred Sutton of Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, David M. Smith Jr.; one sister, Edith Oesterling; and one stepson, Larry Montag.
MONTAG — Family and friends of Velma J. Smith Montag, who died Monday, Dec. 27, 2021, are invited to a visitation from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jared Townley officiating.
Burial will be in Butler County Memorial Park.
