Carl E. Reiss Jr.
Carl E. Reiss Jr., 84, of Butler, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022, at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot.
Born Feb. 1, 1937, in East McKeesport, Pa., he was the son of the late Carl E. Reiss Sr. and Margaret (Kavran) Reiss.
He was a veteran, who proudly served in the U.S. Navy.
Carl was employed as a skilled master mechanic at WL Roenigk Inc., where he worked on diesel engines, buses, cars and farm equipment, until his retirement.
Carl was a valued member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Butler, where he served as an elder and an usher, as well as a treasured member of his church community.
He enjoyed gardening, car shows, working puzzles, playing bingo, traveling, tinkering with small engines and car repairs, and the outdoors. He was also an avid Steelers, Penguins and Pirates fan.
Surviving is his wife of 34 years, Barbara (Krabill) Reiss, whom he married on Feb. 28, 1987, and her children, Angel of Virginia, and Suzanne (Bill) and Jack, all of Butler; one brother, William “Bill” (Karen) Reiss of Allentown, Pa.; his grandchildren and stepgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by three daughters to a previous marriage, a stepson and a stepdaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepson, Daniel; and a sister, Anna Marie.
REISS — Family and friends of Carl E. Reiss Jr., who died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022, are invited to a visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.
A funeral service will be held following the visitation at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Carmen Shullo Jr. officiating.
Burial will be made in Butler County Memorial Park.
