SR Township discusses use of American Rescue Plan funds

Slippery Rock Township’s board of supervisors discussed possibilities for the use of its American Rescue Plan funds at its meeting Monday afternoon.

According to secretary/treasurer Karen Connell, the board has not come to a decision about how the funds will be spent but will in the future.

“We haven’t decided anything yet,” Connell said in a phone interview. “They’re talking about some equipment needed for the road crew, maybe a generator for the community center. We need to see if (those are) possible.”

The board also began researching the purchase of a new pickup truck for the township’s road crew. The pickup would replace the crew’s current vehicle.

Additionally, the board approved the final payment of more than $5,000 on the picnic pavilion built last summer next to the township building.

“It’s been a long project by the county,” Connell said.

The next board of supervisors meeting is at 8 p.m. Feb. 14.
