Glenn Bachman

Bachman

Glenn Scott “Bachy” Bachman, 62, of Prospect passed away Thursday, Jan. 20, 2022, at Butler Memorial Hospital after a steady decline from kidney disease, and finally bladder cancer.

Born May 12, 1959, in Allentown, Lehigh Valley, he was the son of the late Linford Newberry Bachman and the late Minerva (Meckes) Bachman of Catasauqua, Pa. He played football in high school for Catasauqua Area High School, graduating in 1978.

Bachy met Martie Fagley while she was in Allentown with her sister, MaryAnna, who was attending college. When Martie had to return to Western Pennsylvania, Glenn accompanied her. He married Martha J. Fagley on Tuesday Feb. 2, 1982, at Christ Community United Methodist.

After moving to Western Pennsylvania, he found employment working for his father-in-law at the former Super Dollar Grocery Store. After Super Dollar closed, he moved on to work for Qualex Photo Fininshing in Slippery Rock, Pittsburgh and Allentown.

When Glenn and Martie returned to the Lehigh Valley to care for Linford, Glenn learned quality control and testing of concrete while employed by Frank Casilio & Sons. After Linford passed, they relocated to the Pocono Mountains where he retired from Pocono Transcrete doing quality control.

He was a Christian and a member of Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Palmerton. When he returned to Butler in 2018, he found a church home in Mount Chestnut U.P. Church.

He worked in both eastern and Western Pennsylvania election polls. Before kidney disease, he donated over 20 gallons of blood and was a lifelong avid Penn State sports fan and a Penquin hockey fan. His passions included kite-flying with the Lehigh Valley Kite Society; beekeeping with the Monroe County Beekeepers Society; and astronomy with Lehigh Valley Amateur Astronomical Society, where he was able to share his knowledge with their Explorer Post. He found peace fishing, only once with black jellybeans and hunting.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister, Lois (John) Katchur of Muncy, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Helen Jeffries of Butler; and a sister-in-law, MaryAnna Cole of New Baltimore, Pa., whose partner, Thomas Mazzaferro, passed away unexpectedly the evening of Jan. 20, 2022, due to consequences of COVID-19. Also surviving is a niece, Sara Jeffries of Butler; and nephews Clinton, Ryan and Zachary Cole of Maryland.
