SMICKSBURG, Indiana County – A Buffalo & Pittsburgh Railroad train derailed 17 railcars and one locomotive engine around noon Monday in Smicksburg.

According to Tom Ciuba, vice president of communications for Genesee & Wyoming Railroad Services Inc., the derailment caused no injuries. He also said a full clean-up and track repair for the affected area should be completed by Thursday.

“A full investigation to determine the cause of the incident is still underway,” Ciuba said in an email Wednesday.
