William MacTaggart Sr.

William J. “Bill” MacTaggart Sr., 75, of Grove City, went home to be with the Lord with his family beside him on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022.

Bill was born in Grove City on June 26, 1946, to W. Wayne and Bernice J. (Early) MacTaggart.

He married Phyllis “Jean” Magee on Nov. 24, 1967.

Bill was employed in the foundry office at Cooper Bessemer for 36 years. Later, he worked at USIS for 10 years until his retirement.

He was an active member at Grove City Alliance Church, and he enjoyed volunteering his time in the church office.

Bill was an avid Pirates fan and especially enjoyed collecting baseball cards throughout his life.

He was a founding member of the Grove City Historical Society.

Bill is survived by his wife, Jean at home; a daughter, Kimberley Baker of Grove City; a son, William J. “Bill” MacTaggart Jr. and his wife, Jillian, of Slippery Rock; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Sharon Rouse and her husband, Harry, of Lebanon, Ohio, Lynette Zellmann and her husband, Jim, of Grove City, and Becky Palmer and her husband, Richard, of Grove City.

His parents preceded him in death.

MACTAGGART — Visitation for William J. “Bill” MacTaggart Sr., who died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022, will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.

Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Grove City Alliance Church, 845 N. Liberty Road, Grove City.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Grove City Alliance Church, 845 N. Liberty Road, Grove City, PA 16127.

Burial will be held at Prairie Cemetery, Harrisville.
