Richard C. “Dick” Schmoll, 80, of West Sunbury passed away Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021, at Butler Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

Dick was born on May 6, 1941, in Pittsburgh, as the son of the late Constantine F. Schmoll and late Anna M. Wisniewski Schmoll.

Dick worked for the Butler Shirt Factory and went on to drive truck for American Hardware. He retired from Armco as a silicon maintenance supervisor and also drove truck for Zanotti Harley Davidson. He was of Catholic Faith. He was a life member of the NRA and was a former member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. He was a very accomplished private pilot and also enjoyed hunting and fishing and his motorcycles.

Dick is survived by one daughter, Michelle (George) Curl of Petrolia; three sons, Richard E. (Jennifer) Schmoll of Hill City, S.D., Sean C. Schmoll of Petrolia, and Darrin T. Schmoll of Parker; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Robert (Rita) Schmoll of Karns City and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene E. Schmoll, who passed away in February 1992; and one sister, Dolores A. Smith.

Schmoll — Family and friends of Richard C. “Dick” Schmoll, who died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main St., West Sunbury.

A blessing service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Father Adam Verona of St. Faustina Parish, officiating.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
