William Cress
William “Buffy” Bryan Cress, 75, of Prospect, peacefully passed away Saturday evening, Jan. 15, 2022, at Butler Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness.
Born Jan. 26, 1946, in Birkenhead, England, he was the son of the late William L. and Kathleen B. Banton Cress.
Buffy was a U.S. Marine veteran, who proudly served his country during the late 1960s.
After 30+ years, he retired from the former Armco-AK Steel mill in Butler, where he worked as a storeroom supervisor, and was influential in his union.
After retirement, he enjoyed bowling and golfing, where he competed in local leagues. He loved horse racing, casinos, and will be remembered for good times and spending time with his family and friends at Michael’s in Prospect. He was friendly and always willing to help others.
He was an avid sports fan, and he especially enjoyed cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins.
He is survived by his children, Sherry (Kevin) Hepfl of Butler, and Bryan (fiancée Melissa Scouten) Cress of Butler; his grandson, Collin Walker of Butler; his granddaughter, Chelsea Hepfl of Pittsburgh; his sister, Fawn (Warren) Kwok of Tennessee; and his cat, “Wild.”
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sheila Smith.
CRESS — Per his wishes, there will be no public services for William “Buffy” Bryan Cress, who died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022.
