In contrast with a sunny Sunday morning, current weather forecasts suggest Winter Storm Izzy will reach the county some time after 5 p.m. tonight.

According to the National Weather Service of Pittsburgh, total daytime accumulation may only be around or less than an inch.

Over night is a different story.

“The snow could be heavy at times,” the forecast said. “Chance of precipitation is 100% (with) new snow accumulation of 8 to 12 inches possible.”

According to Monday’s forecast, experts said most of the storm should be finished by 11 a.m., but it could still bring another three inches throughout the morning.

The forecast also shows temperatures rising by mid week with a possible high near 40-degrees Wednesday, along with possible rain.

According to PA 511, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will impose a Tier-2 vehicle restrictions at 3 p.m., and at 5 p.m., that will be upgraded to Tier 3.

PENNDOT has a five-tier system for vehicle restrictions. Tier 2 includes any empty or loaded trailers. Tier 3 includes all commercial vehicles, except those with chains on board.

Tier 5, which has not been planned yet, includes all passenger vehicle and would allow for no travel on the state’s interstates.
