Joseph Jenkins
Joseph Julius Jenkins, 92, of Butler, passed away on Jan. 12, 2022, due to complications from COVID-19.
Born in Butler, to John Kenneth Jenkins and Anna Blicha Jenkins, Joe enlisted in the military at age 15 at the end of World War II, and served his country for over 20 years. He also served in the Korean and Vietnam wars. After retiring as a major, Joe eventually went to work for the Federal Aviation Administration, and traveled all over the world.
Joe was a vibrant, smart, active man, quick to share a good joke or an insightful quote, with an ever-present twinkle in his eye. A loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, his wisdom and guidance were a foundation for all who knew him.
In his years of retirement, Joe was a passionate woodworker, gardener, and fixer of all things. He enjoyed a glass of red wine with friends and family, and always reminded us, “this too shall pass.”
Joe was preceded in death by his daughter, Kelly; two grandchildren; and his siblings, Paul, Mickey, Ken and Jerry.
He leaves behind a loving wife, Joann; his children, Sally, Joe, Danny, Jody, Becky, Patrick, Michael and Joni; his 21 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Jim, Lori, Patty and Mary Margaret; and many extended family members and friends who adored him.
