Carved in Ice festival returns

The popular Carved in Ice festival, which is organized by the Butler A.M. Rotary, will return to Butler on Feb. 11 and 12.

Having taken a hiatus last year due to the coronavirus pandemic, the chilly but much-loved event will once again display ornate ice carvings in Diamond Park.

On that Friday evening from 5 to 8 p.m., carvers will chip away at their frozen medium, and their transparent creations will be outfitted with twinkling lights to create a magical atmosphere in Diamond Park.

Food, adult beverages and entertainment also will be available on Friday evening.

The festival will continue from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday that weekend, when Main Street will be closed from Wayne to Jefferson streets.

Children's activities, a basket raffle at the Butler Art Center and a hot dog-eating contest will round out the Saturday activities.

Those interested in entering the hot dog-eating contest can do so by calling 724-991-2212 or visiting butleramrotary.com.
