Pamela Anne Barkus, 62, of Butler, passed away on Saturday morning, Jan. 8, 2022, at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Aug. 18, 1959, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Richard Wallace and Peggy Anne Parris Hemphill.

A registered nurse, Pam had trained with her father’s gynecological practice, both before and after obtaining her nursing degree. Pam had been a school nurse for Butler Intermediate High School, and worked for Irene Stacy and at various area physician’s offices, and finally was a loving caregiver to families in the Mars area. She had also worked as a registered nurse for the movie industry in Pittsburgh.

She and her husband were the founders and owners of Robert’s Bakery in Butler. She was a past president of the Butler Downtown association.

She regularly attended several area churches with her family, and was a member of the Daughters of the Nile, where she was a chaplain, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a former member of Butler Country Club.

Her favorite pastime was sharing her love with family and friends.

Surviving are her husband, Robert R. Barkus Jr., whom she married on Aug. 2, 1980; her children, Alison Roperti (David) of York, and Robert Barkus III (Stephanie) of Cranberry Township; her beloved grandchildren, Anna Grace and Nicholas Wallace Roperti, Ensley Kristine Barkus and Robert Richard Barkus IV; her brother, Vito Hemphill of Santa Fe, N.M.; her mother-in-law, Mary Barkus of Mars; and many other in-laws.

She was preceded in death by her son, Kristopher Austin “Kit” Barkus.

BARKUS — A celebration of life for Pamela Anne Barkus, who died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022, is being planned for this spring.

Burial will be in Mars Cemetery, Adams Township.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kit Barkus Music Scholarship Fund, c/o 134 September Drive, Butler, PA 16002.

Arrangements are under the direction of MCDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.
