SR man charged with sexual assault of minor

State police from Coudersport arrested a 20-year-old Slippery Rock man during a routine traffic stop Sunday in Pike Township, Potter County, after officers said they uncovered his sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl in his passenger seat.

Following his arrest, Trevor Donaldson was arraigned by District Judge Lewis Stoughton by video Monday morning. Donaldson was issued a $5,000 bond. A no-contact order was also put in place in the event he is released.

Donaldson is charged with felony statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, corruption of minors and unlawful contact with a minor as well as misdemeanor indecent sexual assault.

According to charging documents, police did not list why they pulled over Donaldson, but after interviewing him and his alleged 15-year-old girlfriend of West Sunbury, they found reason to investigate further.

After getting a parent's permission, the police interviewed the girl.

“Her and Donaldson are boyfriend and girlfriend and have been dating for about three months,” said the investigating officer in the affidavit. “Somewhere around the beginning of December, the relationship turned sexual.”

The girl allegedly told officers of multiple accounts of sexual experiences she had with Donaldson, most occurring at her home in West Sunbury. Some alleged instances were outside her home in a car or at a friend's home.

Police then spoke with Donaldson, who allegedly corroborated the sexual encounters and the timing of when they began in December.

“I asked him if he knew about the age gap between them right away, and he said that he did,” police said. “He also told me he knew what he was doing was wrong.”

A tentative preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Jan. 11 before Stoughton.
