St. Gregory moves to virtual learning
St. Gregory Catholic Elementary School in Zelienople is moving to virtual learning from Tuesday through Friday this week due to staff members testing positive for COVID-19.
The school teaches students from pre-school through eighth grade.
“Although we seemed to have conquered the odds and provided in-person learning for over a year and a half through this pandemic, I am afraid that we are not invincible, and COVID has finally forced me to make some difficult decisions,” principal Erin Rice said in a letter sent to parents.
Seven staff members have tested positive, according to a release from the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh. Rice said she attempted to find substitute teachers but was not able to secure enough teachers to cover the critical need.
