Allene Adkins

Allene Adkins, 95, of Butler, went to be with her Lord with her family by her side Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021, at her residence.

Born May 21, 1926, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Emma (Garing) Elliott.

Allene attended West Sunbury High School.

She was a housewife, mother and owner/operator of Kozy Korner Store in Butler, until 1981.

Allene was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Butler. She was involved with the funeral dinners, and was known for her cheesy potatoes at those dinners. Allene enjoyed shopping, raising tomato plants and amaryllis plants, and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

Surviving are two daughters, Linda Meinert of Butler and Kay Kort and her husband, Willis, of Butler; a granddaughter, which she raised as a daughter, Vanessa Snyder, and her husband, George, of Butler; six grandchildren, Chris Hankins, Scott Shea, Eric Shea and his wife, Crystal, Amanda Muir and her husband, Josh, Chad Kort and Ashley Kort; nine great-grandchildren, Shayla Snyder Geibel, Krista Snyder, Nick Snyder and his wife, Rachael, Brittany Hankins, Tiffany Hankins, Julian Shea, Aurora Ray Shea, Elizabeth Meinert and Jocelynn Muir; two great-great-grandchildren, Matthew Snyder and Miriam Snyder; one sister, Lois Cochran of Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, Ray Adkins, whom she married Oct. 20, 1945, and who died June 13, 2005; a daughter, Bonnie; two sisters, Olive Harnish and Freda Matthews; and one brother, Albert Elliott.

ADKINS — Family and friends of Allene Adkins, who died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021, will be received from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.

A funeral service will follow visitation at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. James Neal officiating.

Burial will be in Butler County Memorial Park, Butler.
