Albert C. Koser

Father Albert C. Koser, 89, of Millvale, passed away Thursday, Nov. 25, 2021.

He was the son of the late Albert C. and Juliana K. “Mertz” Koser.

Father Koser was ordained on May 30, 1959. His initial assignment was as parochial vicar at St. Wendelin in Carrick from 1959 to 1960: followed by St. Athanasius in West View from 1960 to 1965. He continued to serve as parochial vicar at St. Jerome in Charleroi from 1965 to 1970; St. Thomas Aquinas in California, Pa., from 1970 to 1972; and St. Joseph in Bloomfield from 1972 to 1973. Father Koser was named pastor of St. Charles in Donora, where he served the faith community from 1973 to 1988, before returning to St. Joseph in Bloomfield, where he served as pastor from 1988 to 1993. He was then named pastor of St. Alphonsus in Murrinsville, Epiphany in Boyers, and St. Louis in West Sunbury, where he served the faithful from 1993 to 2005. He was the CCD director for the Washington East Deanery from 1965 to 1972.

Although Father Koser retired from active ministry in 2005, he would serve as administrator (pro-tem) at St. John in Fenelton, St. Matthias in Evans City and St. George in Zelienople in 2012.

KOSER — Friends of Father Albert C. Koser, who died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2021, will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hahn Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 123 North Ave., Millvale.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Matthew Parish, Holy Spirit Church.
