Salvation Army makes final appeal

The Salvation Army Western Pennsylvania Division is making its final call for donations to this year's Red Kettle Campaign, as Christmas fast approaches and the charity faces a fundraising shortfall.

So far, the division has raised about 67% of the total fundraising goal of $2.4 million in its 28 counties in Western Pennsylvania.

“We need the community's help to reach our goal this year and want people to know that their donations directly impact their local community, giving critical support to their neighbors in need all year long,” said Major Gregory Hartshorn, divisional commander of the Salvation Army division.

Ways to donate include:

Visit www.salvationarmywpa.org/HopeMarchesOn and donate online;

Donate digitally with Apple Pay or Google Pay at a physical red kettle;

Ask Amazon Alexa to donate by saying, “Alexa, donate to The Salvation Army,” then specifying the amount;

Give any amount by texting “KETTLES” to 51555;

With spare change and cash at a physical red kettle at a local retailer;

By rounding up online or app purchase at Walmart through Tuesday.
