Richard Massella

Richard Anthony Massella, 72, of Butler, passed away Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021, at the Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.

Born Oct. 11, 1949, in Grove City, he was a son of the late Richard Massella and Jean (Isacco) Massella.

Richard was a graduate of Youngstown State University, with a bachelor's degree in accounting.

He worked for T.W. Phillips Gas Co., and then was co-owner of Schnur's Greenhouse in Herman, working until June of 2021.

He was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, the sons of the American Legion Post 117 in Butler, and the RC Men's Club. He was an avid golfer, and had enjoyed watching football and gardening.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara (Schnur) Massella, whom he married July 25, 1980; one brother, Larry Massella; two sisters-in-law, Marlene (Roy) Thomas and Anna (Greg) Angert; two brothers-in-law, Jerome (Lisa) Schnur and Jim (Cindy) Schnur; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-nephew, Bransyn Miles.

MASSELLA — A Mass of Christian burial for Richard Anthony Massella, who died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, 1660 N. Main St. Ext., Butler. The Rev. Dan Waruszewski will officiate.

Arrangements were handled by Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, 134 Marwood Road, Cabot, PA 16023.
