Butler man faces assault charges
A Butler man is accused of fondling a girl and choking a boy in 2018.
Butler Township Police filed charges Friday against Christopher Adams, 41, of Butler, including felony aggravated assault, strangulation and intimidation of a victim, as well as misdemeanor child endangerment, terroristic threats and indecent assault.
According to charging documents, police began investigating after receiving a Childline report from a Butler County school, related to a 17-year-old alleging to have been groped by Adams.
During a forensic interview, the girl told investigators he fondled her inappropriately on a weekly basis, beginning shortly before she turned 14 years old.
“(The girl) disclosed Adams would touch her when no one was around and would tell her he would kill her mother if she told anyone,” police said.
The girl also allegedly told investigators about an assault by Adams on her brother in 2018, who would have been 11 at the time. The brother was then also brought in for an interview.
The boy allegedly told investigators Adams had strangled him following a dispute over the man's dogs. The boy said Adams accused him of choking the dog. The boy said he was only scratching the dog's neck.
“(The boy) stated Adams pushed him against a wall and started choking him with both hands, telling him that's how the dog feels,” police said.
Police said they collected written statements from the two children, as well as their mother. Based on the children's interviews, the mother had not witnessed the alleged inappropriate behavior with her daughter, but she saw Adams allegedly strangle her son.
A preliminary hearing has not yet been scheduled.
