Wolf supports rail infrastructure
Gov. Tom Wolf on Wednesday announced the approval of 25 rail freight improvement projects across the state, including in Butler County.
A news release from Wolf's office said Pennsylvania has 65 operating railroads, which is more than any other state. There are about 5,600 miles of freight lines throughout the state.
Wolf said $33 million will be dedicated to projects through the Rail Transportation Assistance Program and the Rail Freight Assistance Program.
In Butler County, Buffalo & Pittsburgh Railroad will receive $1.8 million to replace approximately 5.5 miles of worn rail on curves to improve rail conditions and safety in the county.
