Ruth Julia Yvorra

Ruth Julia Yvorra passed away on Nov. 9, 2021, at the age of 100+ at ClenMoore Place in New Castle, where she had resided for the last three years.

Ruth was born on Dec. 30, 1920, in McKees Rocks, to Leopold and Anna Kutzner Geider. She grew up there, where she enjoyed going to movies and roller skating with her friends.

She married James Yvorra, and moved to Portersville to make their home located along Route 488, the Ellwood Portersville Road.

Ruth did secretarial work for various companies before she became a devoted mother to her only son, Jimmy.

She enjoyed feeding birds and tending flowers in her flower gardens. She loved cats and had several over her lifetime. She enjoyed visiting with the many neighborhood children, who came over the years.

Preceding her in death were her son, Jimmy; her husband, James; her parents, Leopold and Anna; her brother, George; and her sisters, Madeline and Anna.

She is survived by her remaining family, including nieces, great-nieces and great-nephews.

YVORRA — A private burial service for Ruth Julia Yvorra, who died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2021, will be held Tuesday at Mountville Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Marshall Funeral Home, Ellwood City.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Yvorra Leadership Development Fund, established in memory of her son, James, who passed away in 1988 after a tragic accident while assisting EMT and the fire department at a vehicular accident along the Washington, D.C., beltway. He was a trained firefighter and EMT. Contributions can be sent to YLD, 2446 Azalea Road, Port Republic, MD 20676, or online at YLD.org. Memorial contributions may also be made to the Wurtemburg-Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department, 425 Ellwood Portersville Road, Ellwood City, PA 16117.
