Bus full of donations to travel from Butler to Kentucky

Nickolas Flanders, left, and his son, Gage Flanders, load donations of food, hygiene and cleaning supplies onto a coach bus, which will be delivered to people affected by storms in Kentucky.

A crew is loading cargo Monday into a Campbell Bus Lines bus outside Sam's Club in Butler Township that will soon be bound for storm-torn Kentucky.

Nickolas Flanders, a bus driver for Campbell, said he wanted to find a way to help people who had lost their homes and more in the storms last week, and had the perfect method of delivery through the bus company.

He said he pulled into the parking lot around 11 a.m., and shoppers have been eager to help when they learn about the cause.

“We want to make sure it gets to people now, before Christmas,” Flanders said. “People have been pulling in, grabbing a flyer and saying, 'We'll be back.'”

Flanders said while the bus is almost overflowing, he plans to collect supplies at Sam's Club until 8 p.m. Monday.
