Thomas M. “Bud” Donaldson Jr., 98, of Evans City, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021, at Butler Memorial Hospital following a period of declining health.

Born July 19, 1923, in Evans City, he was the son of the late Thomas M. Sr. and Blanche Nicholas Donaldson.

He was married to the former Lucille E. Buzard, who passed away April 15, 2018.He was affiliated for many years with North Main Street Church of God in Butler.Bud was awarded the American Legion Outstanding Student Award in 1939, and graduated as valedictorian of Evans City High School in 1942. Over his lifetime, he studied courses at Butler County Community College, Carnegie Mellon and Penn State University.Serving in World War II from September 1942 through January 1946 with the U.S. Navy, he was honorably discharged with the rank of seaman first class. He was awarded the Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal and Good Conduct Medal.He was a life member of the American Legion.Bud retired from the Seneca Valley School District in 1989, having served many years as maintenance director and transportation manager.Surviving are two sons and their wives, Thomas P. (Elaine) Donaldson of Butler, and Bruce (Susie) Donaldson of Evans City; seven grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Clinton Donaldson.He was the last surviving member of his family, and was preceded in death by his sisters, Shirley Boice and Doris Donaldson; and his brothers, Frank and Marvin Dean Donaldson.DONALDSON — Visitation for Thomas M. “Bud” Donaldson Jr., who died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021, will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Kinsey-Volz Funeral Home, 114 W.
