Silvester returns in Harmony
Silvester will make its triumphant return Dec. 31 as Harmony will ring in the new year with its German compatriots.
At midnight German time — 6 p.m. in Harmony — a lighted ball will fall in Harmony's town square and fireworks will launch, giving residents and visitors a six-hour jump on their festive celebrations.
It also will mark the end of an hours-long celebration, with businesses opening their doors, and food and beverages being served.
Harmony Museum will host a Christmas tree-tossing contest for adults and a wreath-tossing event for children under age 10 at 3 p.m. in the museum's driveway. Winners of the competitions will receive $20.22 in gift certificates to three local businesses.
