Utility bill assistance available in county
Several Butler County nonprofits have assistance programs aimed at utility bill relief. Some serve different populations or regions.
The Area Agency on Aging aids more than 28,000 residents age 60 and older in Butler County and their families with different programs and services. It can be reached by calling 724-282-3008.
The Butler County Center for Community Resources has a utility assistance program, which acts as a single point of contact for the many governmental, private and charitable funds that are available to address energy and related needs. Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program Block Grant: Eligible low-income individuals can receive financial assistance to offset the costs of heating and/or cooling dwellings and/or have their dwellings weatherized to make them more energy efficient. It can be reached by calling 724-284-8844.
The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission provides information to low-income households or people undergoing a hardship who may qualify for support in paying utility bills. It can be reached by calling 800-692-7380.
The Weatherization Assistance Program will provide free energy conservation and weatherization services to those in need to help improve the energy efficiency of homes. The state line can be reached at 866-466-3972.
