Code-enforcement clerk job to expand

The role of assistant code enforcement clerk in Butler is going from being a part-time job to a full-time one, and council voted at Thursday's meeting to begin recruitment efforts to fill the position.

Mayor Ben Smith said the person currently in the position could end up coming on board full time.

“We've had one before; we still have one,” he said. “There is just a change to that job, so it has to be filled.”

Vehicle changes

The council also voted to put its police department's used 2006 Chevy Impala up for bid. Smith said it is the oldest vehicle and is seldom used anymore.

“It has got a blown head gasket, so we're basically selling as is,” he said. “It is the oldest vehicle, and it's not for everyday use in the department. So it will go out to bid.”

The council voted to purchase a Ford Interceptor SUV-4 Door AWD for the police department from Laurel Auto Group for about $33,800, which will be paid from the 2022 budget.

The city parks department is also getting a new vehicle, a 2022 Ford F-150 4x4 Crew Cab Pickup, from Laurel Ford for $33,325, which will also be paid from the 2022 budget.
