Elaine Foertsch

Elaine Foertsch

Elaine Foertsch, 60, of Hazelton, N.D., passed away on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021.

Elaine was born Feb. 9, 1961, in Butler, to her parents, Edward William Callen and Althea Matilda (McEwan) Callen.

She graduated from Knoch High School in 1979.

She married next-door neighbor Paul Foertsch on Sept. 27, 1991. They were married 30 years this September.

Elaine grew up on the family farm in Saxonburg. At the age of 14, her father passed away. Even though her brothers were only 13 and 11, they kept milking and kept the farm going, still finding time to help neighbors and creating a work ethic that remained with her until the end.

After marrying Paul, they moved to his grandfather's farm, where they worked together raising cattle and hogs, and farming with his father.

They had three wonderful children, John Daniel, Mae Elaine and Errol Wesley. In July of 2012, they moved to Hazelton, N.D.

Elaine worked at His Kids Christian School as a janitor. After moving to Hazelton, she worked at the Hazelton grocery store on Friday mornings, unloading and stocking shelves.

Elaine had a very strong Christian faith. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Butler. After marriage, she was a member of Summit Presbyterian Church in Butler. After moving to Hazelton, she was an active member of Hazelton Evangelical Presbyterian Church, helping out at youth group, Bible school and anywhere she was needed.

Elaine is survived by her husband, Paul; their children, John, Mae and Errol of Hazelton; two brothers, Dan Callen of Saxonburg, and Ted (Janelle) Callen, Jaylene, Courtney, Logan, Lily and Wyatt, all of Saxonburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Althea (McEwan) Callen.
