Raymond Johnston

Raymond H. Johnston, 90, of Renfrew, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2021, while under the care of Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Dec. 27, 1930, in Butler Township, he was the son of the late Harry Johnston and Margaret Neyman Johnston.

Ray was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and was proud to serve his country.He was a member of the Community Alliance Church in Butler, serving in leadership as an elder and in the music ministry.He was employed as a welder by Armco, and retired in 1992.Ray volunteered for a number of community organizations including, the county choir, Meals on Wheels, and at the hospital doing visitation. He was also a certified hospice worker.Ray will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.Ray leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Edith Bowser Johnston; his children, Raymond (Cyd) Johnston of Butler, and Shelly (Thor) Tolo of Seattle, Wash.; his grandchildren, Amy (Jose) Talamantes, Brad (Cynthia) Johnston and Chelsea (Tommy) Vaughn; and his five great-grandchildren, Makenna, Morgan, Beckett, Anderson and Cydney.In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by two brothers, Cyrus and Robert.The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the staff of Butler Memorial Hospital and New Haven Court for their compassionate and professional care of Ray.JOHNSTON — Friends of Raymond H. Johnston, who died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2021, will be received from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Community Alliance Church, 800 Mercer Road, Butler, with Pastor Bob Thomas officiating.Military honors will be held at the church following the service.Ray will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Burial Estates.Arrangements have been entrusted to Boylan Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Connoquenessing Township, 856 Evans City Road, Renfrew.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his honor to Connoquenessing Meals on Wheels, 102 Shannon Road, Renfrew, PA 16053, or the American Heart Association, 444 Liberty Ave. #1300, Pittsburgh, PA 15222Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.
