No tax increase for city residents

Butler residents won’t see an increase in taxes next year, as per the budget proposed at Tuesday’s city council meeting.

The council voted Tuesday to fix the tax rate at 44 mills for 2022, setting the budget’s proposed general fund at approximately $10.5 million. Last year, the council increased millage by 0.75 for 2021.

“There is not a decrease; there is just no more increase,” said Mayor Ben Smith.
