Janet Mae Dumbaugh Lutz, 88, of New Wilmington, Neshannock Township, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021, at Shenango on the Green in New Wilmington from Alzheimer's.

She was born in Butler, to Robert Russell Dumbaugh and Mildred Mae Johnston Dumbaugh.

She graduated from Butler High School, and later Westminster College in 1956 with a degree in business administration. On June 28, 1958, she married Glen A. Lutz, her beloved husband of 63 years.

She was a business teacher in several public high schools, including Neshannock, in the late 1950s. She was a secretary for Universal Rundle Corp., before choosing to be a full time homemaker.

She enjoyed reading, cooking and traveling with her family.

She was an active member of First Assembly of God, and later, Wayside Emanuel churches, both in New Castle, and most recently the New Wilmington Alliance Church.

Janet's deep faith and love for Jesus motivated her life of service in the church and community as she taught children and volunteered many places including the City Rescue Mission and various Pro Life organizations, including the Crisis Pregnancy Center.

Survivors include her husband, Glen; two daughters, Diane (Tim) Pears of New Castle, and Audrene (John) Burns of New Wilmington; a sister, Lynda (Willis) Mohan of Slippery Rock and Florida; and two grandsons, David (Chelsey) Burns and Michael Burns.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Robert Dumbaugh.

LUTZ — The family of Janet Mae Dumbaugh Lutz, who died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021, will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Smith Funeral Home, 310 W. Neshannock Ave., New Wilmington.

The funeral service will immediately follow at 4 p.m. with Pastor John Grusendorf of the New Wilmington Alliance Church presiding.

She will be laid to rest at Oak Park Cemetery in New Castle.
