Lydia Saper

Lydia “Helen” Saper, 96, of Petrolia, passed away Monday, Oct. 25, 2021, at the Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.

Born Jan. 13, 1925, in Strattanville, Clarion County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel H. and Mary Elizabeth (Baughman) Smathers.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora.

Surviving are four daughters, Marsha Dinsmore of Butler, Cynthia (Walter) Loewe of Florida, Christine Franchuk of Butler, and Mary Jane (Brian) Dobson of Petrolia; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her niece.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Saper Jr., who passed away Jan. 5, 1989; her son, Steven Allen Saper; her grandson, Eric Brown; four brothers and a sister; and her companion, Frederick Confer.

SAPER — Friends of Lydia “Helen” Saper, who died Monday, Oct. 25, 2021, will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at The Chapel of Devotion, Butler County Memorial Park with the Rev. Radko Blichar officiating.

Interment will be in Butler County Memorial Park.
