George Dick Jr.
George Henderson Dick Jr., 75, of Butler, died Monday, Oct. 25, 2021, at home following an illness.
George was born March 6, 1946, in Butler, and was the son of George H. and Ruth Ella Dick.
He was a graduate of Slippery Rock High School.He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the U.S. Air Force.He was a truck driver.George was a frequent visitor to Michael's Restaurant “breakfast club.” He loved going to the hunting camp during deer season, and also loved to go to Florida during the winter, where he spent his time being a mentor to boys at The Gator Wilderness Camp. He was an avid woodcarver.George loved spending time with his family, and especially his great-grandson.Survivors include his wife, Sandra Peters Dick, whom he married July 10, 1981; his son, Curt (Ruth) Dick of Butler; two daughters, Melody (Paul) Downing of Butler, and Marcia (Paul) Kotex of Butler; three sisters, Virginia (Bill) Thinnes of Saxonburg, Charlotte Potts of Butler, and Ella (Robert) Hicks of Prospect; four grandchildren; one great- grandson; one sister-in-law, Cheryl Dick of Prospect; and numerous nephews and nieces.George was preceded by his parents; two brothers, Robert and John; and his brother-in-law, Joe Potts.DICK — There will be no public visitation for George Henderson Dick Jr., who died Monday, Oct. 25, 2021.Private graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Burial Estates in Butler, with the Rev. Ron Schermerhorn of Mount Chestnut Presbyterian Church officiating.Arrangements were entrusted to Jay Bryan Funeral Home in Prospect.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Gator Wilderness Camp, 44930 Farabee Road, Punta Gorda, FL 33982.
