Saxonburg Light-Up Night parade returns
Christmas enthusiasts of all ages can once again cheer for the floats, bands and vehicles in the Saxonburg Light-Up Night Parade.
Canceled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Saxonburg Business Association members have been hard at work planning the holiday-themed Main Street parade for 2021, which will begin at 7 p.m. Friday.
The 22nd annual parade will feature 32 participants, including decorated floats, antique fire trucks, motorcycles, tractors, a decorated school bus, the Knoch Knights Marching Band and several sports teams from Knoch High School.
Kerri Kadyk, a realtor at Berkshire Hathaway's Hutterer and Stahl Team, said Santa will bring up the rear of the parade as is the event's tradition.
The jolly old elf will then proceed to the South Butler Community Library, where children can enjoy cookies and hot chocolate as they share their Christmas wishes, Kadyk said.
She said a holiday market with local vendors of handcrafted items will be added to Light-Up Night this year, and all businesses on Main Street will be open.
Free horsedrawn carriage rides also will be offered on Friday night.
Kadyk said she can't wait to see the residents enjoying fellowship with one another and supporting the borough's unique businesses at Light-Up Night.
“I'm super excited,” Kadyk said. “I'm so glad it's back.”
Main Street will be closed at 6 p.m. Friday for parade line-up.
