North Catholic president named

NCHS graduate starts Monday

The Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh announced Friday that a new president for North Catholic High School in Cranberry Township had been chosen.

Bishop David Zubik announced that Joseph Wilson, 48, would be the school’s new president effective Monday. Wilson, a graduate of North Catholic, had been recommended for the position by the Catholic High Schools of the Diocese of Pittsburgh Inc. Board of Directors and the North Catholic High School Board of Directors.

“I am confident that you will continue to build upon the fine tradition of excellence that has always been a hallmark at North Catholic High School,” Zubik wrote to Wilson in an appointment letter. Wilson received his undergraduate degree from the McAulty College at Duquesne University and his master of science in public policy and management at Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz College. He has served as business manager at North Catholic since 2003 and, prior to that, was the business manager at Bishop Canevin High School and Saint Anthony School Programs.

As president, Wilson said he would focus on development, fundraising and the overall financial management of the school.

“As a proud alumnus, I am incredibly honored to accept this tremendous responsibility,” Wilson said. “North Catholic has always had a special place in my heart and I look forward to continuing to build in the legacy of this great institution.”

North Catholic principal Michael Palcsey will continue to have primary responsibility for the school’s academic affairs.
