Kid's Innovation Playground (501c3) will have an exhibition of its Santa's North Pole Village from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 3 at the North Trails Public Library, 1553 W. Sunbury Road.

The village was created by 14 children in grades three to eight from several school districts in Butler County using robotics, coding and art.

This is a culmination of the last class supported by a two-year Grable Foundation grant to bring more STEAM to northern Butler County.

The library will also be offering cookies with Santa.

NORTH WASHINGTON — There will be a “Handcrafted Christmas Craft Show” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 4, at the North Washington Social Hall, 2231 Oneida Valley Road.There will also be an auction and a luncheon.Proceeds will benefit the North Trails Public Library.

The Pennsylvania Commissioner for Women is seeking nominations of female military veterans to be honored in the sixth Female Veterans Day ceremony in March.Veterans who are selected will be honored by Gov. Tom Wolf and First Lady Frances Wolf.A news release from the commission said there are nearly 65,000 women veterans in Pennsylvania.Online nominations of female veterans who are Pennsylvania residents and have served at least four years in any branch of the military should be made by Jan. 14.Nominations can be made at women@pa.gov.

Ford City will receive a $745,000 state grant from the Multimodal Transportation Fund under the Commonwealth Financing Authority for improvements to streets, alleys and sidewalks, according to state Rep. Abby Major, R-60th.The grant will be used to help pay for reconstruction of parts of Third and Fourth avenues, 11th and 12th streets, and two alleys.“These improvements will help revitalize the borough in conjunction with the soon-to-be Butler County Community College at Armstrong campus,” Major said.The Butler County Community College is going to bring new life to Ford City, and with the help of this grant funding, the street and sidewalk improvements will help to make that possible,” said state Sen. Joe Pittman, R-41st.
