Robert C. Franz

Robert C. “Bob” Franz, 66, of Herman passed away Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2021, in Butler Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

Born May 29, 1955, in Butler, Bob was a son of the late Hubert N. and Theresa M. Steiner Franz.

Bob was a member of Saint Francis of Assisi Parish — Saint Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church.

He was a 1974 graduate of Butler High School.

An avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan, Bob was always proud to fly the “Jolly Roger.” He also enjoyed cheering on the Penguins and the Steelers. He loved to read, especially World War II books. One of his favorite pastimes was spending time at the family camp.

He is survived by four brothers, Edwin H. Franz, of Herman, Regis V. Franz, of Butler, Thomas J. Franz, of Herman, and James M. Franz, of Butler; one aunt; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by one sister-in-law, Sheila Neigh Franz, who passed away July 10, 2005.

The Franz family gratefully thanks the Herman Volunteer Fire Company, the ambulance services of East Butler and Saxonburg, and the doctors, nurses, and staff of Butler Memorial Hospital for the compassion and care given to Bob.

Franz — A Mass of Christian burial for Robert C. “Bob” Franz, who died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2021, will be celebrated at a future date, and internment will take place in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Herman.

Arrangements are under the direction of Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler.
