Emma Eckenrode
Emma M. Eckenrode, 77, of Callery passed away Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2021, at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born March 1, 1944, in Butler, she was the seventh of nine children and was the daughter of the late Cecil and Cathryn (McCool) Christy.
She was a member of Old Union Church in Mars.
She was retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier, following 20-plus years of service.
Emma enjoyed pull tab bingo, playing cards and especially spending time with her family.
Surviving are her children, Terri L. (Pete) Plog of Madrid Township, Maine, and Matt M. Eckenrode of Callery; three grandchildren, Clayre Plog, Staci (Jason) Linnell and Jackie Plog, all of Maine; one great-grandchild to be arriving in February 2022; one brother, Ken W. Christy of Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley M. Eckenrode, whom she married Feb. 1, 1964, and who passed away June 14, 2017; and four brothers and three sisters.
ECKENRODE — Friends of Emma M. Eckenrode, who died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2021, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Peter de Vries officiating.
