Butler Memorial Hospital received an “A” Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade for fall 2021. This national distinction recognizes the hospital's achievements in protecting patients from harm and error in the hospital.

The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization that assigns a letter grade to general hospitals across the country based on more than 30 national performance measures, including errors, injuries, accidents and infections as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm, according to a news release from Butler Health System. The grading system is peer-reviewed and free to the public.

MARS — Mars Area Middle School Student Government collected 248 pounds of leftover Halloween candy as part of its annual Halloween candy drive.The drive benefits the Operation Gratitude Halloween Candy Give-Back Program. The candy was delivered to the 377th Engineer Company SFRG (Butler), which will distribute the candy, in the form of care packages, to veterans, first responders, and troops deployed overseas.
