David W. Merriman

David W. Merriman, 73, of Mars, passed away on Monday evening, Oct. 11, 2021, at UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Township.

Born June 10, 1948, in Glenfield, Pa., he was the son of the late Sylvester and Mary Louise Knecht Merriman.

He had served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and was a life member of Mars VFW Post 7505, and the Mars American Legion.Dave had worked in the maintenance department at St. John Specialty Care Center in Mars for 32 years. He also assisted customers at Pfeifer Hardware in Mars, for 30 years.Dave was president of Penn Mar Plaza Tenants Association and was a member of the Mars United Presbyterian Church.Surviving are a son, Jeremy Merriman (Jennifer) of Mars; a daughter, Mary Lee Merriman of Evans City; his grandchildren, Dakota, Clayton and Ryder; two sisters, Norma Fisher of Arizona, and Carolyn “Midge” Ganster of Freedom; two brothers, James Merriman (Twila) of Mount Holly Springs, Pa., and Robert Merriman (Linda) of Florida; and his nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his sisters, Phyllis Falcona, Eunice Guenther, Nancy Merriman Koegler and Janet Merriman; and by his brothers, William, Joseph and Russell Merriman.MERRIMAN — Friends of David W. Merriman, who died Monday, Oct. 11, 2021, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars.
