Donald Nickels
Donald H. Nickels, 83, of Allegheny Township, passed away on Friday, Oct. 8, 2021, in his residence.
A son of the late Byron Clarence Nickels and Charlotte (Fulcomer) Nickels, he was born Aug. 30, 1938, in New Kensington.
Donald had been employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Freeport for more than 40 years before retiring in 2000. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. During his 64 years with the Allegheny Township Volunteer Fire Department, he held various positions, including that of fire chief. He was of the Presbyterian faith and a member of the Red Knights. Donald enjoyed volunteering, working around his home, riding his motorcycle and, most of all, spending time with his family.Survivors include his wife of eight years, Beverly A. (Hassler) Nickels of Allegheny Township; two sons, Michael S. Nickels of Allegheny Township and Mark A. Nickels (Virginia) of Sarver; stepchildren, Charles E. Balog of Pittsburgh, Robin Marie Perfetta (Mark) of Avonmore, and Bradely R. Balog of Leechburg; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents.Nickels — Friends of Donald H. Nickels, who died Friday, Oct. 8, 2021, will be welcomed by his family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main St., Leechburg, with the Allegheny Township Volunteer Fire Dept. Company #1 conducting a service at 7 p.m.Funeral ceremonies will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Rev. Gary J.
