Robert Baumgarten
Robert Lynn Baumgarten, 72, died at home on July 31, 2021.
He was born Nov. 19, 1948, in Butler, the son of Charles and Sadie (Overstreet) Baumgarten. His sisters and his brother, Margaret, William and Becky, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his sister, Sue Jamieson of Lecanto, Fla.; and his former wife, Patricia Williams of Largo, Fla.
He graduated from Butler High School in 1966, and relocated to St. Petersburg, Fla.
He entered the U.S. Army in 1967, and served for three years as a company clerk.
Following his discharge, he returned to St. Petersburg, where he was employed as an electrician for most of his life. He also worked for three years for Hunter Marine in Alachua, building boats.
While in St. Petersburg, he spent many enjoyable hours cruising on his BMW motorcycle with other bikers, and walking the beach at sunrise “searching for whales.”
He moved to Fort White in 1980, where he continued to work doing plumbing, electrical, and installing custom ceramic tiles.
He retired in 2012, and enjoyed fishing on the Ichetucknee River, socializing, and helping his friends with home repairs or providing transportation to the elderly and disabled.
BAUMGARTEN — Following cremation, there will be a graveside service for Robert Lynn Baumgarten, who died Saturday, July 31, 2021, to be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 15, 2021, at the Bushnell Veterans Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla.
Dees Parrish Funeral Home of Lake City, Fla., is handling the funeral arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, his friends are asked to make a donation in Bobbie’s name to their local food bank.
