Karl Herold

Karl Franklin Herold, 100, of Butler, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, Oct. 8, 2021.

Born Dec. 29, 1920, on the farm in Center Township, he was the son of the late Francis and Alda Verner Herold.

He was a World War II U.S. Marine veteran.He was a faithful member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Prospect.Karl worked for Butler Burial Vault Co. for many years, and then retired after 18 years as a draw bench operator at the former Halstead Industries.In his early years, he enjoyed his family camp in Warren County, where he loved to hunt and fish. He had a passion for woodworking, and working in his yard.He is survived by three sons, Karl (Marguerite) Herold Jr. of Butler, David (Dorothy) Herold of Prospect, and Richard (Marlene) Herold of Butler; six grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; his faithful dog, Jake; and his nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Mae King Herold, whom he married Sept. 24, 1943, and who passed away April 6, 2005; his brother, James Herold; and his two sisters, Elizabeth Shaffer and Ardith Hay.HEROLD — Visitation for Karl Franklin Herold, who died Friday, Oct. 8, 2021, will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Raisley Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 387 Main St., Prospect.The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Margarethe Galbraith-Cordes, his church pastor, officiating.Graveside service with military honors will be conducted by the Bantam Marines at Greenlawn Burial Estates.Memorial contributions may be given to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, P.O.
