Butler police arrest barricaded woman
Butler City police took an armed 68-year-old woman into custody for an evaluation Monday morning after she barricaded herself in a home.
Officers responded to 553 Third St. at 10 a.m. to assist county mental health advocates who had an involuntary commitment warrant for the woman, according to Chief Bob O'Neill.
He said the woman had two firearms and said she would shoot any officer who tried to remove her. According to O'Neill, officers used crisis intervention training to negotiate with the woman for four hours trying to find a peaceful resolution. Officers entered a bedroom area and used a robot to locate the woman before taking her into custody with no injuries.
The woman was taken to a hospital for an evaluation and for the warrant. Police will not file charges against the woman, O'Neill said.
